As the first witness to the resurrected Jesus, Mary Magdalene, was entrusted to carry the heart of Jesus to others.
How can we continue to carry the love of Jesus to those we meet in everyday life? How does the story of Mary Magdalene translate to the lives of men and women today? What do we know about this woman who has been called “Apostle to the Apostles”?
Through conversation, reflection, and creative prayer experience we will share the story of Mary Magdalene as we celebrate on the eve of her Feast Day, from 10-11:30 AM, Saturday, July 21 in the Shrine Center. All are welcome. Julie Berggren, MA

The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii’s May Crowning 2018
May, the month of Mary, was celebrated in a special way at the Shrine. Many years ago when the Shrine was a parish, the school children celebrated May by Crowning Mary. It was an exciting and happy event and the Alumni Committee of Our Lady of Pompeii is proud to continue this tradition.
The Alumni Committee was pleased to host the May Crowning once again this year on May 6, 2018 at the 11 o’clock Mass. The Alumni is made up of graduates of Our Lady of Pompeii School, past parishioners and those who love the Shrine.
Twenty children, decked in their Sunday best, were there to honor our Blessed Mother by placing beautiful flowers in vases in front of Mary and participating in Mass led by our Rector, Father Richard Fragomeni.
Joseph Roman read the 1st Reading and Janelle Uribe, dressed in white, placed the beautiful crown of flowers on Mary. The children sang songs led by Josie Falbo and Alumni, with Dr. Rick Selva and accompanied by James Janossy.
The children were given medals of Mary, donated by a generous anonymous donor, to remember this special day. The Alumni is looking forward to the next tribute to Mary on May 5, 2019. All children are welcome. Please come and be blessed.
